Importance of connecting with Parents

“The school is a drunk looking for his keys, and they’ll look where the light is best. It doesn’t make sense to solve a problem before you have analysed what the problem is. The key, if the problem is parent-school dynamics, is to gain support from parents, so parents and, staff are like a group of tribal elders setting rules and standards for children”

p.109 from Olsen, J., & Nielsen, T. W. (2006). Network – the power in
linking stakeholders together (Ch. 11). Holistic discipline (pp. 108-120). Pearson.

Note when it comes to reports, according to Churchill (2011), the key things parents want to know from a report is “How is my child going… and should I be worried about anything” (p.423)
