11 End-Of-Year Reflection Questions For Your Students – courtesy of Megan Dredge

Taken from Megan Dredge’s email, December 2014 – thanks Megan!

“These reflection questions will help your students to reflect on the year and remember the moments and experiences that really stood out.

  • What are the two best memories you have of this year?
  • What was your favourite event/excursion/special performance this year?
  • What is the nicest thing someone did for you this year?
  • In what area do you feel you have improved in the most?
  • What are 3 new things you’ve learned, that you didn’t know at the start of the year?
  • What’s something you did for someone else this year?
  • What’s the best piece of work/project/assignment you’ve done this year?
  • What subject have you enjoyed the most? Why?
  • What are 6 adjectives you could use to describe the best parts of this year?
  • What have you learned about yourself this year?
  • What are you most proud of this year?

Your students can answer and present their reflections in a variety of ways, depending on their age and stage, and also on how much time you’d like to spend on these.
It could be a simple discussion in pairs. Or a short group presentation. Or they could write, illustrate, type, make a slide show.
This reflection process is not only enjoyable, it is also a fabulous way to consolidate the year and reflect on the positives.”
